Make your miniature dollhouse or model project even cosier by creating a magical atmosphere with the right lighting. But how do you actually install those miniature lights? Follow our step-by-step instructions and you'll have it done in no time!
Connecting lights and LED lights
The great thing about creating miniature dollhouses is that you can literally recreate everything. However tricky it may seem, you can get it done in miniature. So can lighting!
Miniature LED lights really add something magical to Book nooks, Miniature houses and 3D puzzle building kits. Whether it's lanterns, pendant lights, table lamps, outdoor lamps or wall lights, it's all possible. And just like in your home, you have them in all shapes and sizes.
With many miniature construction sets, you already get the LED lights included. A super nice addition, of course! But you still have to put these together. And that occasionally causes some problems. Because if you don't often come into contact with electronics, putting together such a beautiful mini light bulb might not be so obvious.
How do you install a miniature LED light?
Installing a miniature LED light may seem like a chore, but it's really a lot easier than you think. The secret is in creating a closed circuit. This means that you run the current from the batteries back to the batteries via the light and the switch, without interrupting the current anywhere else.
Only the switch is allowed to interrupt the circuit, so you can turn the light on and off whenever you want. If the circuit is interrupted anywhere else, your light will not light. So, make sure everything is connected properly, and your miniature LED light will shine as it should!
First things first: gather all the parts
Which materials do you actually need? Before you get started, it is useful to gather everything you need neatly together. This will make it a lot easier and more enjoyable! Start by checking the packaging to see which parts are already included.
In the packaging you will find:
- LED lights
- Battery holder with switch
- Sticker sheet
Handy to have on hand:
- Scissors
- Batteries: Check the packaging of your Miniature House for the correct type
Once you've collected everything, you're ready to start making your miniature lights.
Step 1: Cut the sticker sheet
- Start by cutting the sticker sheet into 2 parts. These pieces of sticker are your secret weapons to firmly attach the LED lights to the battery holder.
- Make sure the parts are even so that they fit well and the lights are firmly attached.
Step 2: Attach the lights to the stickers
- Take the LED lights and carefully spread the ends (the side without the light) apart.
- Then peel off the protective paper from the back of the stickers.
- Stick each end of the lights onto a sticker so that they are firmly attached.
- Note: do not fold the stickers yet, as you still have a few more steps to go!
Step 3: Attach the battery holder to the stickers
Now comes the exciting part: connecting the battery holder.
- Take the battery holder and stick the ends of the wires coming out of the battery holder onto the stickers you stuck the lights onto earlier.
- Make sure that the wires from the lights and the battery holder touch and make contact properly before you glue the stickers completely.
- A good connection is essential because without a closed circuit, your lights won't light.
Step 4: Insert the Batteries
- Open the battery compartment cover and insert the batteries.
- Pay close attention to polarity: one battery should be with the positive side (+) facing up, and the other with the negative side (-) facing up. This is important for your lights to work properly.
- Close the cover of the battery holder firmly.
Step 5: Turn on the lights
You're almost done now!
- Flip the switch and watch your miniature Dollhouse lights come to life.
- The lights will shine and your miniature world will instantly take on a magical atmosphere!
Troubleshooting: what to do if the light does not work?
Does the light not turn on right away? Don't panic! Follow these steps to solve the problem.
- Carefully open the stickers and check that the wires of the light and the battery holder are touching. Sometimes it helps to twist the wires slightly around each other for a better connection.
- Try gently moving or adjusting the lights so that the wires make good contact.
- If the light still does not come on, check that the batteries are inserted correctly and that they have enough power.
Have you checked everything and it's still not working? Then watch the instruction video to see step by step what you can do. Make sure all the connections are right, and your miniature LED light will work perfectly!
