Material No.1 for Miniature Houses: glue, glue and more glue
Glue! It certainly comes in handy when it comes to DIY miniature building. But besides being handy, we all know how incredibly frustrating it can be. It's so much nicer to work with when you know exactly which glue to use and how best to apply it.
The right glue for each component
1. First of all: use different types of glue. In most building kits you will find universal glue that will get you a long way. Yet it doesn't work great if you want to glue wood or attach paper to iron wire. Hence you want wood glue for wooden parts, and E6000 (or super glue) for faster gluing. By the way, when gluing different materials, E6000 is also the better option.

2. Use tools for applying glue. Think toothpicks, paint brushes or small dispersion bottles with a needle-like tip. That way, you will attach glue even to the tiniest parts. Really! A world will open up for you.
Patience is half the battle
3. Don't be tempted to spray glue directly onto the pieces, because you will end up with a sticky mess. But apply it to a piece of paper first and then use a toothpick (or other tool) to place it on the parts. That way, even precision work becomes a relaxing activity.

Perfect 90° angles
4. Straight walls are essential for a clean result when building a DIY miniature house. Make sure walls and floors are positioned at an exact 90° angle so everything looks stable and professional.
Use assembly tools to hold the parts in place while the glue dries. For even greater precision, a magnetic gluing tool helps prevent anything from shifting.
This way, you can work more accurately, more calmly, and with even greater enjoyment on your project.
Beads 101
5. If you are a bit familiar with DIY miniature houses, you know that beads are a common material. But gosh what a hassle. They seem to disappear when you look at them, that's how small they are. Grabbing these beads with tweezers isn't the easiest thing to do either. Use kneading eraser or play dough instead. Making beautiful details like flowers becomes so much easier this way.

6. Are you making flowers and do you find that they keep falling over? Then use a smaller bead to secure a stem of the flower. You then insert this into a larger bead. And voilà, you'll have a cheerful, vibrant bunch of flowers in no time.

7. Great, those LED lights, but what do you do with that wiring? Washi tape! Great stuff to cheerfully hide the ugly wires. And they really do come in an incredible variety of versions.

The power of tape
8. These DIY 3D puzzles will also involve some cutting. Now, this is often self-explanatory, but with smooth materials, a slip is easy to make. Avoid this by using adhesive tape or other masking tape. If you secure the material firmly to the surface, it will not shift while cutting.
Incidentally, you can apply the same technique to sandpaper. Tape the paper down and sand the particle over it until all unevenness is smooth. Perfect if the edges need to be sanded straight.
A quick clean-up with the lint roller
9. The best tip for in-between clean-ups is the well-known lint roller. These are usually used for pet hair, but they are also incredibly handy for quickly cleaning your worktop. Simply roll or dab the mess off your worktop. That way, next time you start your favourite crafting project in a relaxed mood.

10. Is your miniature house completely finished? Apply a layer of clear varnish to protect all your hard work and keep your creation looking beautiful for years to come.
