Few things are as restful as a puzzle. Some may not have the patience for it, but if you sit down to do it, you can clear your head completely by doing a puzzle. We at Crafts & Co love it too. Read more
What different kinds of puzzles are there?
There are too many to mention. Crossword puzzles, block puzzles, sudoku, word searches... Not to mention jigsaw puzzles. The latter is still the first thing many people think of when they hear the word puzzle. Whereas the puzzles in puzzle books require you to rack your brains, you can put your mind at rest with a jigsaw puzzle. And even within the jigsaw puzzles, there are numerous variations. Different images, different sizes, different materials... And you can make it as difficult or easy as you like. If you want an easy challenge, you can choose a 1,000-piece puzzle. If you really want to go for the harder stuff, there are puzzles of up to 50,000 pieces!
Why are puzzles good for you?
Puzzling is a great way to clear your head. Sorting the pieces according to colour, staring at the image, finding the right piece and laying it down makes you completely focused on your work. At that moment there is no room for work worries, household concerns or other thoughts that cause stress. Moreover, it is very good to spend a considerable part of the day away from the screen. By doing puzzles, you give your eyes a rest. If you stare at your computer screen all day for work, this is a welcome change. Eyes quickly become 'lazy' from the blue light of the screen.
Who is puzzling suitable for?
The beauty of puzzling as a hobby is that everyone can do it! Whether you are young or old, a beginner or experienced puzzler: there is always a suitable puzzle to find. Of course, puzzling does not have the same soothing effect on everyone, but it is certainly worth a try.
