What all can you use a Heat Gun for?

1. Plastic welding or bending

The hot air from a heat gun softens otherwise solid plastic. Then you can bend it any way you want.

2. Softening or removing glue

To remove glue, simply aim the airflow at the glue, softening it and allowing you to remove it easily.

3. Smooth 3D pen creations

You can upgrade 3D pen creations very easily using a hot air gun. Make a surface of the filament with the 3D Pen. Once cooled down, you can soften the plastic again and smooth it with a blunt object after warming it up briefly with the heat gun.

4. Making candles with smooth tops

Chances are your candle wax will have indentations and an uneven surface. To tackle this problem, use a heat gun to melt and smooth away any unevenness in the candle wax.

5. Melting ice

Is the handle of your car frozen? Then free it up in no time after aiming a minute of hot air at it.

6. Give wood an antique finish

Those vintage woods look so good, right? But a store-bought antique finish is often very expensive. So what you can do is move your heat gun slowly over the wood to see the ageing effects unfold before your eyes.

7. Embossing

Because heat guns give off a gentle stream of directed hot air, they are perfect for embossing.

8. Paint Crackling

If you want to give your brand new paint an early vintage look, simply paint two coats and then apply glue. Then use the heat gun to get the finish as if your artwork is centuries old.

9. Smoothing out wax crayon paintings

Sometimes, when you create a wax crayon painting, you see that it is not even. To get rid of the chalk in a particular spot, just run a heat gun over it.

10. Removing stickers

Removing glue is a job a heat gun can do well, so of course you can also use it to remove those stubborn stickers or labels that kids have stuck all over the house.

11. Remove wax crayons from walls

Children often decorate your walls with wax crayons, which you remove by using a heat gun and then wiping away the melted wax with a cloth. After this, you can enjoy the wallpaper again!

12. Repairing leather and vinyl

To repair leather or vinyl, apply a layer of heat-activated glue to one side and then use your heat gun to activate the glue and repair the crack.

15. Remove old wallpaper

If you want to hang new wallpaper, but still need to remove the old one, the best way to do this is with a heat gun. The heat will naturally melt the wallpaper glue and you can remove the wallpaper quickly and efficiently.
